TRUFFLE HUNTING IN TUSCANY

Our inaugural Moments kicked off in good taste as we embarked on a truffle hunt in Italy. The Tuscan woods near the town of San Miniato proved to be fertile ground for our expedition, which we undertook with skilled tartufaia (truffle hunter) Francesca and her fungi-finding partner, Cioco the hound.

Norway’s freshness was served up on a plate when we visited Bergen. To get a taste of the Neo-Fjordic food movement, we hooked up with local chef Christopher Haatuft, and discovered the beautiful bounty of ingredients available on the city’s doorstep.

Madeira put us in good cheer when we sipped our way through it with Food Hero Olly Smith and the owner of Blandy’s vineyard, Chris Blandy. We saw how the island’s famous fortified wine is made – and took the opportunity to enjoy a tipple or two.

Valencia blew us away with its fabulous food, incredible architecture and beautiful beaches. Spain’s third-largest city boldly mixes old and new to showstopping effect, from the 1920s Art Nouveau Mercado Central to the futuristic City of Arts and Sciences.

Eric Lanlard’s Afternoon Tea made our mouths water when we caught up with the master pâtissier and Food Hero. He revealed the inspiration behind the star creations from his new menu, such as the West Indies Chocolate Tart and heavenly Pistachio and Rose Financier.
